Scott has been involved with the Investigation and Law Enforcement Industry for the past thirteen years (13) years. A vast majority of this experience was during Scott’s eleven (11) years as a police officer within the Queensland Police Service.
During his career, Scott became very proficient in every day policing duties such as:
· Mobile Patrols;
· Beat Duty;
· Traffic Duty;
· Surveillance Duties;
· Radio Operator;
· Counter Duties; and
· Report Writing, etc.
Whilst at the Gold Coast Juvenile Aid Bureau and Criminal Investigations Branch, Scott was responsible for conducting investigations into, and the successful apprehension of literally hundreds of persons wanted for a large variety of offences ranging from:
· Simple assaults to Attempted Murder;
· Unlawful Wounding;
· Murder Investigations;
· Sexual Related Offences;
· Offences Against Children;
· Shop stealing to Robberies with violence;
· Break and Enter to Burglary;
· Unlawful Use & Unlawful Possession of Motor Vehicle’s;
· Wilful damage & Wilful Destruction of Property;
· Fraud matters;
· Domestic Violence Matters;
· Liquor licensing offences;
· Street Offences; and
· Non Fatal & Fatal Traffic Accidents.
In 1994 Scott Transferred to the Police Dog Squad and successfully completed two Dog Handler’s Courses and has fully trained & operated two police dogs for six and a half (6 1/2) years. During Scott’s time within the Dog Squad, his police dog team was solely responsible for tracking and apprehending a number of violent and non-violent suspects. Scott’s duties at the dog squad included the following:
· Tracking & Searching for suspects and offenders;
· Apprehending armed and violent offenders;
· Drug searches;
· Property searches;
· Building searches;
· Crowd control; and
· Siege Incident Containment.
In addition to the above duties, in 1995 Scott was selected to attend the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) Dog Handlers Course. This allowed Scott the opportunity to work closely with the Queensland Police Service SERT team. The SERT team is responsible for all high-risk situations that occur within the state of Queensland. Their portfolio also contains counter terrorism, surveillance, intelligence, high angle rescues and bush search and rescue.
Scott’s dedication and commitment to his work was not only recognised by his day to day professionalism, but also with the following awards:

In February 2001, Queensland Police Service
Valour Award was presented to Senior Constable Scott Gemmell in recognition of
an act of exceptional bravery in hazardous circumstances. This pertains to the apprehension and
restraint of a male offender during a siege incident after Scott received a
near fatal stab wound to the inner thigh.
Incident occurred July 1999
(Offender was armed with a knife, had set fire to a house and attempted
to kill several members of the public)
· In May 1996, Assistant Commissioner’s Certificate awarded to Constable Scott Gemmell, for initiative, courage, dedication to duty and team work displayed, resulting in the successful apprehension of an armed offender in adverse weather conditions during a crisis situation. (Offender was armed with loaded .303 rifle)
· In October 1995, Assistant Commissioner’s Certificate awarded to Constable Scott Gemmell, for promptitude, professionalism and dedication to duty in the apprehension of an armed offender at South Brisbane. (Offender was armed with knife and wanted for Attempted Murder)
Scott left the Queensland Police Service on 30 June 2000 and upon leaving the Queensland Police Service he has pursued a career within Private Investigation and Corporate Security Sector. Since this time Scott has wither investigated or managed investigations into the following matters:

· Domestic Insurance Investigations
· Commercial Litigation
· Work Place Accidents
· Criminal Investigations
· Intellectual Property/Fraud related matters; and
· Compilation of Briefs of Evidence
In the area of surveillance investigation, Scott has obtained excellent results during both his policing and private investigation experience. His tactical experience has seen these results gained in some extra ordinary circumstances, which has involved conducting surveillance during adverse conditions. Scott passes on his experience by lecturing at the Security Institute Brisbane. Scott predominately lectures students attending the Certificate II in Investigative Services but also assists with other courses such as the Certificate II in Security Guarding and the Security Institutes Close Personal Protection Courses.
Scott’s expertise in a tactical environment has enabled to perform work in the area of Close Personal Protection. Scott has completed further training in this field by attending an Executive Protection Course which was run by Vance Executive Protection Inc, based out of Washington DC, USA. In the private sector Scott has performed this service for a number of executives, high profile persons, and was in Sydney during the 2000 Sydney Olympic’s whilst working on the Bill Gates Family Protection Detail.
The running of Gemmell Enterprises Pty Ltd has also provided Scott with the opportunity to expand his skills within the areas of business. In addition to his responsibilities regarding investigation and file management, Scott overseas the general accounting, marketing, client and customer liaison and general day to day business practices.
